A Few Birds

Well our week wasn't too exciting.  We worked in the visitor center all three days.  We helped D'Anna finish up with the Junior Duck Stamp entries with their awards and got them sent off to the proper schools for presentation to the participants.  We did that Thursday.  Friday was spent inside as it was coming a downpour for most of the day.  Wallace went out Saturday morning with the hiking group for a couple of easy trails while I stayed behind...inside!!!  Don't get me wrong...I enjoy visiting with people and helping them out...but ALL day!!!  However, on Saturday morning as we were going in to work, we had two groups of 15 elk really close to the road.  It has been cool and crisp the last few days bringing them down from the ridges for closer looks.

Anyway, I thought I would share a few bird photos for this blog.

Black-chinned Hummingbird.

A Dickcissel, singing his name.

A Painted Bunting.

In this fuzzy photo, you will see it has been banded several times.  We have researchers here banding birds and they are wanting info on this bird which I am happy to provide.

A Great Crested Flycatcher.

A White-eyed Vireo showing his white eye.

Another one of those fuzzy Black-capped Vireos.

A Mississippi Kite...they are everywhere.  Wonderful!!!  There is a pair hanging out here at our site.  This was taken in the evening.

And one in flight.

This Red-eyed Vireo dropped in to say "here I am, in the tree, look up, at the top."  I am trying to get a shot of that red eye.

A flock of Pine Siskins flew in for a while.

A singing Summer Tanager.

The End.

Until next time...
